Bacifore Apron Front Sink Receives Good Design Award

ANN SACKS, KALLISTA® AND ROBERN® WIN THE CHICAGO ATHENAEUM GOOD DESIGN® AWARDS IN THREE CATEGORIES

ANN SACKS Tile and Stone, KALLISTA plumbing, and ROBERN, cabinetry, vanities, and lighted mirrors, part of the Kohler Co. Decorative Products Group, announced today that they are recipients of The Chicago Athenaeum Museum GOOD DESIGN Awards, taking home awards in three categories. ANN SACKS Crackle Collection by Kohler WasteLAB winning in the Building Materials 2019 category, KALLISTA Bacifiore/Butler Entertainment and Kitchen Apron Front Sink by Mick De Giulio winning in the Kitchen/Appliances 2019 category, and Robern Uplift Tech winning in the Bath/Accessories 2019 category. The trademarked awards program was founded in Chicago in 1950 by the former MoMA curator Edgar Kaufmann, Jr. together with pioneers of modern design, Eero Saarinen, Charles and Ray Eames, George Nelson, and Russell Wright.


The announcement was made by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. This is the 69th year the Chicago Athenaeum Museum has conducted the GOOD DESIGN awards, reviewing product submissions from approximately 50 countries, selected by a jury of distinguished design professionals, leading industry specialists and media. Since its inception, over 40,000 coveted awards have been bestowed globally based upon quality design of the highest form, function and aesthetics, under categories that include design and innovation, sustainability, creativity, branding, ecologically responsible design, human factors, materials, technology, graphic arts, packaging and universal design.


ANN SACKS Crackle Collection by Kohler WASTELab
ANN SACKS, a leading designer and manufacturer of fine tile and stone, partnered with parent company, Kohler Co., to create The Crackle Collection by Kohler WasteLAB, an innovative tile series that employs Kohler's unfired pottery cull as its medium, transforming the waste into a responsive tile body. Handcrafted in the WasteLAB located in the Kohler, Wis. enamel factory, the bespoke collection was one of the initiatives spun from the WasteLAB.


ROBERN® Uplift® Tech
Robern, a leading designer and manufacturer in cabinetry, Uplift Tech upgraded the longstanding Uplift Collection, the first cabinet to utilize vertical opening, no-swing doors for unobstructed views. Robern added modern accents and state-of-the-art features balancing the timeless design with revolutionary features. Cleverly integrated into the mirror is Robern's optional perimeter lighting, illuminating Uplift Tech with its industry-leading task lighting for consistent, accurate color rendering at 90+ CRI. The interior has an integrated lighting system that bathes the entire cabinet in light. The night light can be turned on and off using in-cabinet controls or programmed in 12-hour increments. A mirror defogger turns on with the push of a button. The interior also houses built-in USB charging ports, integrated electrical outlets, tamper resistant plugs, and a cantilever, adjustable shelving system to effortlessly store essentials out of sight.

 

KALLISTA Bacifiore Butler/Entertainment and Kitchen Apron Front Sink by Mick De Giulio
KALLISTA, leading manufacturer and designer of plumbing products, partnered with internationally renowned designer, Mick De Giulio, on the new Bacifiore 24-inch and 30-inch Butler/Entertainment and 36-inch Kitchen Apron Front Sink. The Bacifiore sinks are all expertly crafted from 16-gauge stainless steel, the 24-inch and 30-inch KALLISTA Bacifiore sinks featuring curved interior walls, while the 36-inch version features vertical walls for optimum working space. Hand-hammered in an organic, floral motif, the Bacifiore is buffed to a lustrous, high polish finish, its rippling, dimpled surface adding dimension and depth. The proprietary hand-polished finish designed by De Giulio for KALLISTA guarantees that it will withstand the rigors of daily use and the forgiving finish will remain beautiful for years to come.
