Designer Denise Morrison creates a serene, family retreat in Hayden Lake, Idaho
Imagined as a year-round refuge, this lakeside home provides inherent tranquility through its earth-tone color palette, transitional design, and refined livability. "I wanted the interiors to reflect the architecture and the landscape, but also feel functional, relaxed, and intentionally unprecious," says Morrison.

Balanced Gathering Spaces
Morrison brings her signature balance of old and new to the kitchen and dining spaces. Warm woods, sculptural forms, and layered textures create a setting that feels both expressive and refined, where creativity and comfort meet with quiet intention.

A Layered Palette
In the primary bath, deep tones of black and rich wood reflect in the home's architectural character, creating a grounded and layered palette. Light and reflective touches are carefully woven in, maintaining an effortless balance—the perfect complement to Kallista's One collection brassware and textural Argile freestanding bath.

Designed for the View
"The view really informed every design decision. I kept asking: does this color support the view? Does this material distract from it? I wanted the interiors to feel like a natural extension of the outdoors, so everything had to complement—not compete with—the setting."

Architectural Warmth
Beyond the primary spaces, Denise introduced Pinna Paletta's unlacquered brass hardware, adding subtle shine and visual interest. "The texture of the Pinna Paletta pieces really stood out to me. They feel substantial in the hand, and that weightiness complements the architecture."

Elevated Comfort
Rooted in a palette of warm neutrals and natural textures, the Morrison home evokes a quiet luxury—inviting, unforced, and deeply refined. Materials like wood, stone, and dimensional textiles create a sense of grounded comfort, while thoughtful design moments elevate the everyday.

A Bold, Modern Edge
In the home's secondary baths, the Matte Black finish from the One collection brings a bold, modern edge. "I love the modern, streamlined aesthetic of the One collection, but also the weight and feel of the handles—it's just beautifully made," says Morrison.
