KALLISTA® DEBUTS VESSELS FROM MICHAEL S SMITH AND ROBERT KUO
KOHLER, Wis. (April 24, 2012) – Kallista, a leading provider of decorative plumbing products, introduced four new vessels at the 2012 Kitchen and Bath Industry Show in Chicago. The new designs – Kasos, Spyros™, Fei Tian Wen™, and Qing Liu – represent the continuation of an ongoing partnership between Kallista and renowned designers Michael S Smith and Robert Kuo.
Smith's Kasos and Spyros vessels take their design inspiration from the iconic architecture and forms of ancient Greece and are crafted from luxurious solid marble. Kasos is named for a tiny Greek island that lies at the edge of the sparkling blue Aegean Sea. Hand-carved from exquisitely veined Calacatta Borghini marble, the Kasos' exterior has carved handles and a linear design that is suggestive of the columns of ancient Roman temples.
Spyros gets its name from the Greek composer Spyros Samaras, who is celebrated as the author of the official Olympic anthem that is traditionally performed at the opening ceremonies of the games. This vessel design has a clean, modern design, and offers a bold, transitional style that accentuates the gorgeous marble composition. Spyros is available in either Calacatta Borghini marble or Bleu de Chine marble, which has a richly marbled blue-gray hue.
The Fei Tian Wen and Qing Liu vessel designs by famous China-born artisan Robert Kuo are both hand-cast solid bronze. Kuo uses simple repetitive patterns inspired by nature to create these sophisticated, timeless pieces.
Fei Tian Wen gets its design inspiration from the famous Dunhuang cave drawings created by pilgrims traveling along the ancient trading route known as the Silk Road. Kuo is the originator of the name Fei Tian Wen, which, loosely translated, means "flying gods design." This vessel has a glossy smooth interior and an exterior swirl pattern that is beautiful and enticingly tactile.
The Qing Liu vessel is named for "clean flowing water." A gently linear design, Qing Liu has seams resembling ribbons or cascading water on the exterior and a glossy, smooth interior. Both new Kuo vessels are available in traditional bronze or white bronze composition.
