KALLISTA INTRODUCES A BATH COLLECTION OF WHIMSICAL SOPHISTICATION BY TRACY PORTER
I have found a language that has no words, in pattern, color and shape. There is a flavor, like orange cream soda, and an emotion. It excites me! It calms me! It surprises me!
- Tracy Porter
Kallista, Inc., a leader in decorative plumbing design, introduces a new decorative bath collection by renowned artist Tracy Porter. Tracy Porter The Home Collection brings whimsy and sophistication to the bath through fanciful use of color and exquisite detailing.
Porter's offerings for Kallista meet the homeowner's desire for enchanting bath products that are playful, yet tasteful. The Tracy Porter bath ensemble for the Decorative Kallista Collection includes two painted lavatories, three antique-style vanities, and a magnificent, hand-painted claw foot tub. The new collection's designs, described by Porter as being "American Rhapsody," boast of brightly colored patterns mixed with motif that are abundantly detailed, vibrant and inviting.
"American Rhapsody is the result of our heart's desire," says Porter. "American means freedom of expression, individuality and pursuit of happiness, while rhapsody provides the emotion. Exultation and enthusiasm are the necessary attitudes."
Within this assemblage of bath products are painted lavatories featuring two charming, garden-inspired designs. "Collette In Spring" portrays tiny violets and old-fashioned English roses in romantic shades of pink, arranged upon a series of thin yellow stripes that run the length of the basin. Additionally, a black-and-white harlequin border circles the lavatory's upper rim. "Lucy's Garden" depicts a collage of brightly colored berries, cherries, strawberries, lilies, buds and leaves, with a muted blue, hand-painted trellis serving as a subtle backdrop. The vitreous china lavatories are available as self-rimming or undercounter.
Porter also hand-paints the brilliant "Collette in Spring" design on Kallista's Circe cast-iron claw foot tub. Available to customers on a made-to-order basis, Porter decoratively paints the unfinished exterior of the tub that, once it dries, reveals a soft satin finish. The Circe's claw foot is an intricately detailed design that features scrolls, leaves, gargoyle masks and a large bird grasping a ball.
In addition to decorative fixtures, Porter has designed a series of three charming, hardwood vanities to accompany her bath collection. One vanity is stained in an understated, elegant antique white; while the other two are also stained in white and feature floral embellishments on their front panels to coordinate with the decorated lavatories. The vanity's counter material is provided by the customer. At the base of the vanity are two side-by-side wicker baskets to store personal items.
"Tracy Porter is a wonderful rising artist," says Christopher Lohmann, general manager-Kallista. "She has an incredible gift of weaving color with pattern that creates a traditional, nostalgic design."
Porter was born and raised on a farm in rural Wisconsin. In 1991, she and her husband, John, moved back to Wisconsin and purchased a 26-acre farm in the quaint town of Princeton. Originally, the couple operated a small hand-painted furniture and accessory business, Stonehouse Farm Goods. The amazing response to their business has evolved into a licensing company, Tracy Porter The Home Collection, and retail store, Stonehouse Farm Goods-The Store, in downtown Princeton. Tracy Porter designs can also be found on a diverse collection of home furnishings products including exquisite needlepoint pillows, wool hooked rugs, greeting cards and books, charming dinnerware, a delightful range of wall papers and fabrics, and hundreds of enchanting wares.
